UB Communication Science

Closure due to Relocation of the Locations in Oerlikon

The library locations Affolternstrasse (AFL) and Andreasstrasse (AND) as well as part of the collection of the UB Psychology (BIN) move in the summer into the building BIM (Binzmühlestrasse 11/13; 1. OG).

These preparations result in the following closures:

AFL (UB Political Science and UB Popular Culture Studies & Film Studies): 
Monday, 1 June 2026 - Monday, 31 August 2026

AND (UB Social and Cultural Anthropology & Sociology and UB Communication Science): 
Monday, 1 June 2026 - Monday, 31 August 2026

BIN (UB Psychology): 
Monday, 29 June 2026 - Monday, 31 August 2026

Please borrow the items you need before these dates. All loan periods will be extended so that no fines are incurred during the closure.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our BIM and BIN locations starting Tuesday, 1 September 2026.

What Study Spaces are Available?

  • There are 34 study spaces, whereof 2 with PC/screen (see devices).

  • The study spaces can be used at any time without prior reservation.

What Infrastructure Can I Use Here?

Devices

  • 2 study spaces with external screen (USB-C)

Lockers

  • Lockers are available in the entrance area outside the library. Use with your own lock.

Information about the Location and Collection

At UB Communication Studies, you can find specialized literature from the fields of Communication and Media Research, which is accessible to students and departmental members as well as public.

The UB Communication Studies is a reference library, that means the items can be consulted on site, but can't be borrowed.
