The Library Board is a committee of the university administration. It is affiliated with the University Library of Zurich (UB) and is administratively subordinate to the Office of the Vice President Faculty Affairs and Scientific Information.

Affiliation
The Library Board is a commission of the executive board of the university. Together with the University Library Zurich (UB), it is administratively subordinate to the Office of the Vice President Faculty Affairs and Scientific Information.
Responsibilities and competences
The library service of the University of Zurich (UZH) is provided jointly by the UB and the ZB. The Library Board is responsible for the strategic and financial management of this service.
The governance ensures that the UB and the ZB meet the needs of the faculties and disciplines of the UZH and take into account the differences in research, teaching and learning cultures as well as the heterogeneous requirements for libraries and the varying importance of printed and digital media within the faculties.
In its governance, the Library Board is guided by the UZH mission statement and strategic principles as well as other UZH guidelines relevant to the libraries.

Electoral body
The representatives of the faculties and their deputies (§ 5 para. 2 let. b) are elected by the respective faculty. The election of the representatives of the representative bodies and their deputies, with the exception of the student representative body, shall be in accordance with the regulations of December 3, 2019 for the election of the delegates of the representative bodies to the governing bodies and other bodies of the University of Zurich (election regulations). The election of the representative of the governing body for students and their deputies is governed by the statutes of May 23, 2012 of the public-law corporation of the Association for Students of the University of Zurich (VSUZH).
The representative of the library staff (§ 5 para. 3 let. c) is elected from among its members.
