The survey conducted by the University Library of Zurich (UB Zurich) in December 2024 on reservable versus non-reservable study spaces showed that the high number of no-shows for reserved spaces is perceived as a problem. That’s why it is our aim to make the use of reservable study spaces more efficient.

Against this background, a pilot project will be carried out during the autumn semester of 2026 at the UB Medicine Careum Study Room, UB Business Administration, and UB Business Administration Study Room. From 31 August 2026 to 31 January 2027, on-site check-in via designated stations will be required at these locations to use reserved study spaces. You will need to scan the confirmation QR code between 15 minutes before and 25 minutes after the start of your reservation. If you do not check in on time, your reservation will lapse and the study space will be made available to others.

Study spaces at the affected sites must be booked via a separate booking system: booked-UB Check-in. You can find more information in the manual (PDF, 896 KB).

Your feedback is important to us. We will make a feedback form available during the pilot phase.

The aim of this pilot project is to ensure a more efficient and fairer use of study spaces.
